Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY) recalling the ongoing 21-day lockdown across the country due to the coronavirus epidemic, she said on June 26 that ex-gratia payments of Rs 500 to poor women would be credited in their Jan Dhan Account for three months going forward starting April.

  7. In addition to debit cards, account holders of Jan Dhan also receive an accidental guarantee of 1 lakh rupees. 
  8. For accounts opened after August 28, 2018, insurance coverage is increased from 1 lakh to 2 lakhs.
  9. Account-holders who meet the requirements that open their accounts for the first time between August 15, 2014, and January 31, 2015, will receive life insurance protection of Rs 30000.
  10. PMJDY also offers the option of overdrawing up to Rs 10000 for all household account holders (Lady preferred).

Documents required To Apply For Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana

If an Aadhaar card / Aadhaar number is available, there is no requirement of additional documents. If the address has changed, only a self-certified report is enough.

If You don’t have an Aadhaar card, any of the following legal documents are required: Voter ID, Driving License, Passport, PAN Card, and NREGA card. If these documents also contain your address, they can serve as proof of identity and address.If anyone does not have one of the valid official documents mentioned above but is classified by the bank as low risk, they can open a bank account by presenting one of the following documents: 

1-Identity Card with applicant’s photo, issued by the central / state authority, Statutory/ Regulatory Authority, a public sector company, Schedule Commercial Bank and federal financial institution. 

2-A letter from a gazetted officer with an attested photo of people who have been authenticated.

With the above documents, applicants must carry at least three passport-sized photos at the time of the application.
